PRESS RELEASE

On June 14, 2024, Fulton County Deputies responded to an incident involving a firearm around the 9000 block of Highway 289 North.

Delores Jones (67) goes to the residence because the noise is bothering her dogs. Delores arrives and points a firearm at several people including children. Delores began pulling the trigger repeatedly causing the hammer to strike the firing pin on an empty chamber. It was later discovered that the firearm had three (3) live rounds in the magazine.

According to statements gathered at the scene, a birthday party was being celebrated. Delores then pulls up and parks near a tree. One of the witnesses sees Delores reach over and hold something up. He then hears clicking noises and asks another witness if Delores is taking pictures.  After few more clicking sounds the witness are able to identify that it is a firearm that Delores is holding and pulling the trigger. Delores is aiming where children would be in the line of fire if the bullets from the magazine are chambered. Delores is confronted and then speeds off nearly hitting one of the children that are crossing the road to retrieve a four wheeler.

A female witness goes to check on Delores to see if something is wrong. Her husband advises her to take a picture because Delores is still in possession of the firearm. As the female witness is going to take the photo, Delores asks if she wants her to pose the proceeds to point the firearm at the husband and smiles.
